Times are changing and so does business. About 3 million players operate e-sports in Germany regularly. It is estimated that 70 million players worldwide play against each other every day. E-sport is booming in a rapidly growing market. The most widely represented computer game genres are real-time strategy games, Ego-shooters and sports simulations. In Germany there are traditional football clubs such as FC Schalke 04, 1. FC Nuremberg, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Hertha BSC, RB Leibzig, Werder Bremen, VFB Stuttgart or VfL Wolfsburg E-Sport teams.
However, e-sports cannot be operated without equipment. In addition to a powerful computer and monitor, the keyboard, mouse and headset are just as essential as a sturdy table and a correspondingly developed gaming chair for this scene. The quality of the setup is crucial for success or failure. With game phases of eight or more hours, it goes without saying what role an right ergonomically designed gaming chair plays.
If the body limps, the concentration subsides: bad for the game.
Here it was necessary to develop a supporting concept with the most renowned German office chair manufacturer. Above all, Interstuhl’s task was to evolve a product specifically for the community. They did not want to construct an office chair, which could also be a gaming chair, but a needs-based, pure sports equipment for e-sports. From this approach, the new brand BACKFORCE has developed and the first chair of a new generation gaming chair was born, the BACKFORCE_ONE.
In addition to various interviews with professional players, a comprehensive analysis of the different providers of gaming chairs was crucial. Conclusion: the vast majority of vendors in China develop and produce at the three major suppliers (the pictures below show the product variety of a Chinese supplier).
